One two-month journey around the Australian Coast was terminated in the wake of the fatal incident of an elderly female passenger who was abandoned by the cruise liner on a remote coastal location.

The elderly woman had been trekking on the remote island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the group for a pause. The liner departed without her and came back after some time after the crew realised the passenger was unaccounted for.

A large-scale search operation located her body the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the event, in coordination with police and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the cruise operator announced that guests and staff on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the remainder of the voyage had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and prior mechanical issues".

Via official communication, he added that passengers would be issued a total repayment, and said the organization was working "to arrange the travel back of the travelers via private aircraft".

Regulatory bodies also issued an updated communication, and said they had "delivered a order to the Captain" preventing any further travelers from boarding the vessel.

The representative said that they would visit the liner in the port city upon its return.

Sequence of Occurrences

The liner initially left Cairns on the 24th of October, and was merely two days into the expedition at the moment of the senior passenger's demise. Lizard Island was the opening port on the voyage.

Travelers on the ship - who generally pay large sums of dollars to take part in the voyage - were taken there for a daily excursion with the option of trekking or snorkelling.

Company Response

Through an announcement, the CEO verified that the organization was "working closely with investigators to support their inquiry".

He mentioned that the company was "extremely apologetic that this has happened" and had extended its complete assistance to the relatives.

The liner accommodates up to one hundred twenty guests with 46 personnel, according to corporate information. It was specifically designed to access isolated areas of the nation's shoreline and is outfitted with "tenders" - compact vessels used to transport passengers on shore trips.

Occurrences of this nature are rare, and liners have systems to document which passengers are getting on or leaving, according to industry experts.
